History of the School
Langley Montessori School is an outgrowth of a private Montessori Preschool that was originally located in Langley City. Interest in having an Independent School with a kindergarten through grade seven program meant that a school society with a Board of Directors was needed in order to meet the requirements for provincial funding. In addition to developing an elementary school program, there was also the development of a unique program to serve children who had special learning challenges. The West Coast Montessori Society and its Board of Directors took the initiative to find a permanent location for its successful elementary school program. The restoration of a novel, turn of the century building in the Murrayville community at historic “ Five Corners” provided the current school site. During the 2005-2006 school year, the West Coast Montessori Society finalized plans to expand the adjacent property into an early learning centre. In July, 2007, the Early Learning Centre opened. This allowed the school to offer infant/toddler and preschool Montessori programs in addition to the Kindergarten through Grade 7 Montessori programs already in place.
